BLOGGER TEMPLATES AND TWITTER BACKGROUNDS

For my media coursework I chose to do the music video task in which you have to create a successful brand image for an artist through making a music video, album panels and an advertisement for the album. I worked with Ivy, Hannah and Shamayla from my media group. For the ancillary tasks I worked with Shamayla only. I contributed by taking shots for the video and editing them; I also took a lot of photographs for the album panels and worked on Photoshop and in design to create the album panels.

As a group we decided that the genre of our music video is pop. This is because it is orientated toward the youth market, usually through simple love songs which is what our song, ‘when will it end’ is. It is visible that our artist belongs to the pop genre through the conventions of our video and ancillary tasks. During the performance part of the video, when the artist sings the chorus, purple spotlights appear around her, this is to make it youthful and feminine as the main target audience for pop music is young, teenage girls. Also the front cover of the album contains pink font and a pink flower, again to appeal to the existing audience.
We also used typical conventions of a love song video by using a typical prop, a rose, throughout the video. The rose is a good prop because the red gives off connotations of love. In the album, to symbolise love, we also have a panel with a photo on it that links to the popular books, Twilight. Twilight is very popular with young girls and so they can relate that with the album for Eloise.
Other connotations of a love song, included in out video are the love interest and ‘the kiss.’ These aspects are important to this genre because they help set the scene of what happened in the relationship and also other girls/women can relate to this. Taylor Swift is a popular young female artist who has many songs about love and videos including a love interest and a kiss. Although her songs are more in the country genre I think that the audience for her and Eloise would be similar. The following link takes you to one of Taylor Swift’s songs on YouTube, the kiss scene is right at the end of the clip and the love interest features throughout. TalyorSwift, you belong with me.
The lyrics to the artist’s main song and the song which the we made the video for is on the third panel of our album (shown above) The lyrics are in white which shows the purity and innocence of the love but the black background contrasts to show the pain that comes with it. The red of the rose also gives connotations of love and romance.
