The editing is going well and mostly all shots are uploaded and are in the process of being edited , there are two small shots missing which will be shot on thursday , today we will be focussing on editing and cutting the shots for the first part of the song , and edit the filters for each flashback shot.

Research for Ancillary Task- Album Covers

To help us produce a CD cover which will be successful and reflect our artist's brand image it is useful to look ayt existing album covers from other artists and see how they have protrayed their brand image.



Firstly, the CD cover from Florence+The Machine's album 'Lungs' is a good example of this. This album cover is very effective as it shows the audience the character of the solo singer Florence.





This album above supports her brand image of being a unique and creative music artist, and I think this is something we could incorperate in our album. The simple but effective logo also does this, by showing that is she artistic wit hthe 'handwritten' look. The colours in this album are interesting using very blue and greens which are very natural and 'forest' kind of colours these can be seen as showing her natural beauty. The lung's on the photo takes the album's name literally and I think this is something which we would like to use in our album, we have already taken several pictures of Eloise which are influenced by the Song 'When Will it end' which includes the idea of time.





Another example I have decided to look at is Regina's Spektor's album 'Soviet Kitsch'



This album is effective in looking creating and supporting her different and disctinctive personality and music. She is known as having a unique voice and personality and I think this album shows this. The cut out of russian dolls again, supports the name of the album. The contrast between the dolls being in colour and Regina being black and white makes Regina stand out which is what an album should do by promoting the aritist.

Taylor Swift's single cover for "Love Story" is a good example of what we are looking to create with our ancillary task. This album shows the protagonist in the a dress and it portrays a sort of fairytale image which appeals to the younger female audience, which is in my opinion Taylor's target audience. The font of the 'Love Story' are effective in creating a sense of femminity and classy look which is a look Taylor is going for. I think this album cover is effective because it promotes her brand image which is that of an innocent, girly artist who appeals to younger female audiences and from this I have learned that it is important for the album cover to make sure it promotes the brand image the artist is going for and to appeal to their target audience which maximises sales.

Week 16-21 Januray

This week we have spent time looking at our ancillary task. We have taken several photographs which we are going to use for both our magazine and CD cover. We have begun editing these photographs on Photoshop and InDesign and have begun forming our CD cover. We have also finished all of our filming with this week filming the flashbacks of our music video, and we have uploaded all the footage on FinalCut were we are fine cut editing all the clips together. We will be uploading the reaseach for our anciallry tasks shortly.

Photo shoot for ancillary

This week we have been focusing on taking the still images for our ancillary tasks and logo. We have taken many photos out on location at a park to show the adventurous but delicate artist that Eloise is. I have uploaded a few of the best shots that will probably be used for the album.

For our logo design we have chosen a close up of the artists eye in black and white with a flower in the pupil in a bright colour to contrast the sad and happy emotions of the songs on her album.

PROGRESS

At the moment we are working on our CD covers. we have been split into two groups . shamayla and sam are working together and hannah and ivy are working together.

Me and sam are working at the images for the front and back of the Cd cover to show the audience different emotions the character goes through. we have decided that the front of the CD cover will be the singers image of her face showing two parts . The first half will show a happy side and the second half will be a sad side which we will do in black and white (to show the difference). For the inside cover we are going to concentrate on one eye to show the sadness that we want to send across to the audience . we have researched images of how we want the eye to look and found two images that would be relevant and going to work on creating a similar look.

These are images we were looking for and going to create a similar look which fit the image of an artist.

Ancillary Tasks

For our ancillary tasks we are required to make a four sided CD digi-pak (front, back, inside front and inside back) and then an ad for the album in the magazine. We have shared the work out between us:

Pair 1: Ivy and Hannah

Pair 2: Sam and Shamayla

Each pair will produce a four side CD album and the magazine ad for the album each and this is what we are going to be working on this week.

During this week are also editing our footage we have got and filming extra footage to add to our music video.

Ancillary Tasks

For our ancillary tasks we are required to split into smaller groups of two and make a four-sided CD digipak and then also come together to make an advert for one of our albums. So Sam and Shamayla will be making one and Ivy and Hannah will be making the other. The albums will probably be similar as they are for the same artist and trying to create the same brand image as the video.
